“Hauntology” is a style of music dear to The No Ring Circus. It is music designed as memento mori, as eulogy, as shrine, as resurrection. It is a collage of found and collected audio, assembled to create a living image out of the ghost of nostalgia. Hints of familiarity peek through, but only as faint yet intoxicating whiffs.

Hauntology is a present element in every piece of music The No Ring Circus Orchestra creates, often times recycling our own material in a self-observant archaeoacoustic mission.

This collection, “THE DEATH TAPES”, are the passages we played to accompany the scene changes in our show “CLOWNS”. Many pieces even include sampled music from the scene we were about to enter, or the one we had just left behind. Each piece, an ephemeral world and a jumble of physiological triggers.
